"RUNNING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION."

By

“When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind.” C. S. Lewis

I'Ching Thomas is a missionary and Christian apologist, she also leads Operation Mobilization (OM), and International leadership development effort. I’Ching speaks at universities, churches, and  conferences and related this story of shepherds in Turkey who watched in shock as hundreds of their sheep followed each other over a cliff.

It started when one sheep went over the edge, only to be followed by the whole flock. At the end of the episode, more than 400 sheep died in the plunge.

Be careful who you are following.

"And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? Luke 6:39 (KJV)

I think I’ll follow Christ.

"And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him." Luke 9:35 (KJV)

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" John 10:27 (KJV).

Some of us are like the man who was hiking in the mountains and fell over a cliff. About 50 ft. down he grabs a branch growing from the side of the mountain. As he looked down a 1000 ft. to the rocks and sure death, he looked up to the edge 50 ft. above.

He yells; “Lord save me.”

The Lord appears and says, “What do you need.”

The man responds, “Lord help me.”

The Lord, says; “Do you have faith?”

The man says, “Yes, I have all the faith in the world.”

The Lord says, “Let go.”

There’s 30 seconds of silence from the man. He looks up and shouts; “Is there anybody else up there.”

I like what Pastor and author Tim Keller says: “Here's the gospel: you're more sinful than you ever dared believe; you're more loved than you ever dared hope.”

Yes, indeed. More loved than I dared hope for.
